Jenna Judkins | Rigel Realty
How long have you been in the industry and how did you first get started in real estate?
I got my license in September 2018, so I have only been active for a few weeks. I have been interested in Real Estate for as long as I can remember and have always had a passion for looking at houses!
What's the most interesting or most important thing you've learned in a real estate continuing education course?
The most interesting continuing education classes I have been in always revolve around mortgages. I find it fascinating to learn about all of the different loan programs and ways lenders are willing to help people finance homes!
What do you consider your greatest accomplishment during your time in real estate?
Having only been in real estate for a few weeks, I haven't had many major accomplishments yet, but I am most proud of myself for not giving up. Real estate can be a difficult business to transition into and it can be discouraging when open houses are slow or leads aren't returning calls. However, I know that I just have to continue working hard and strive to help new people everyday and eventually my hard work will pay off.
What is the trait you most admire in other real estate agents or brokers?
As a new agent, I admire agents who are friendly and willing to offer guidance and advice. I have been fortunate enough to meet extremely kind agents who have let me shadow them on showings, closings, open houses, and more. Real estate can be a competitive business, so I really admire agents who are willing to spread their knowledge and help out the newbies.
What books, websites or courses do you recommend to those in the real estate industry and why? (Please write at least two sentences.)
I haven't read any real estate related books yet, but I suggest intaking real estate knowledge in whatever way works best for you. In the mornings when I am getting ready, I enjoy watching YouTube videos that successful Realtors are posting. When in the car, I enjoy listening to real estate podcasts like Super Agents Live and Elite Agents . Websites like Mike Ferry's are full of helpful scripts and other tips. There is an endless amount of real estate information out there - I recommend finding whatever works best for you whether it is books, blogs, podcasts, videos, or websites.
What advice do you have for new agents who are just starting out in the business?
As a new agent myself, I am still learning my way through the business and finding what works best for me, but my biggest advice is to just put yourself out there. Nothing great will come from being in your comfort zone, and real estate has definitely pushed me outside of my comfort zone. You cannot sit at home and wait for your phone to ring; you have to go out, put yourself out there, make connections, and work hard. Another piece of advice is to find what works best for you. As agents we are running our own business, therefore we get to build it how we would like. Don't feel like you have to exactly follow what other agents are doing to be successful. You will be successful if you are doing something that you are passionate about!
