What requirements have to be met to qualify for a New York real estate license?

In New York there are only a few requirements to be eligible to receive a real estate license. They are:

You must be at least 18 years old.
You must have graduated high school, earned a GED or have the equivalent.
You must be a U.S. citizen.
You must have no felony charges or get a Certificate of Good Conduct.

What do I have to do to take the New York State real estate salesperson exam?

Anyone who wants to take the New York State real estate salesperson exam will need to complete the required real estate pre-licensing course and pass the course exam first. Once you have a certificate of completion for the course you’ll then need to set up an eAccessNY account on the Department of State website. From within the account there’s an option to apply to take the exam. Choose a location and a time for testing.

Once the exam is scheduled you’ll receive a document called the Summary of Your Submission. You’ll need to print it and bring the summary along with a current photo ID to the testing location in order to take the salesperson exam.
