There are seven basic steps that need to be taken to get your real estate license in North Carolina as long as you meet the basic requirements. The steps are:

1. Complete your state-required North Carolina real estate license course.

2. Do a background check (within the six months before getting your license).

6. The NCREC will then decide if you meet the “character” requirement for a real estate license. There’s tons of information about what it’s like to be a North Carolina real estate broker, and how to succeed at the start of your career no matter what the markets are doing.

There are actually two different types of exams for the North Carolina real estate pre-license course that must be passed:

1. Level Assessment Exams

Level assessments recap the previous section of the course to make sure you understand and remember the material before you move on to the next topic. You must pass each level assessment before moving on to the following section. If you don’t pass a level assessment exam on the first try, you can simply retake it.

2. The Final Course Exam

The final course exam covers everything you learned in your 75-hour North Carolina real estate course. You must pass the final exam to complete the course and apply for your North Carolina real estate license. But don’t worry. If you don’t pass on your first try, you can take a little more time to study, then retake the exam as soon as you’re ready.

Once you pass your final exam, your course is complete! You’ll get a certificate of completion from AceableAgent to confirm that you successfully completed your North Carolina real estate education. You’ll need to present this information to the NCREC when you submit your real estate license application.

You have 180 days from the time you enroll to complete the course by state law. If you are unable to complete the course, you will need to retake the course from the beginning.

This is a requirement of the NCREC, but the course provider administers the test. When you pass the final exam we’ll issue you a certificate of completion. The certificate is used to schedule a time to take the North Carolina real estate license exam.

Before the North Carolina Real Estate Commission can issue a professional license to you, they need to confirm that you can carry out a transaction. But don’t worry. If you do, the NCREC will send you a Notice of Exam Eligibility that’s valid for 180 days. You’ll need to schedule the exam with PearsonVUE, the exam provider, and pay the examination fee. You can schedule a time to take the exam at a specific test center online or over the phone.
