How Do I Become a Real Estate Broker in Texas?

- Meet TREC’s qualifications for honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity
You will also need to meet the experience requirements to get your broker license. To be considered for a broker license, you’ll need at least four years of active experience in Texas as a licensed real estate agent or broker during the 60 month period immediately before you file your application. You will also need 3500 points of experience in brokerage and report these on the Qualifying Experience Report for a Broker License.
Additionally, you must complete 270 classroom hours of core real estate courses (which includes a 30-hour Real Estate Brokerage course).
Finally, you’ll be required to complete 630 classroom hours in related courses that are acceptable to the TREC. Now, here’s where a college degree may come into play. If you have a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university, you’re in luck; your degree will count towards this final requirement. Make sure you submit a copy of your college transcript as evidence of completion, along with the rest of your education course completion documents to the TREC when applying.
