The Guide for Getting Your Real Estate License in Macon

The real estate market in Macon has been growing steadily over the past few years. If you want to start a thriving career as a real estate agent, or just want some extra work on weekends, you can get yourself a Georgia real estate license. Getting a license requires coursework, exams, and applications. Follow this guide to learn how to get your Georgia license in the Macon metro area.

Find Out if You Meet the Georgia Real Estate License Requirements

To get your license in Georgia, you must be at least 18 years old. You must also have a high school diploma or GED. Finally, you'll need to pass a background check. However, if you have a criminal record, all is not lost. You might just have to follow a few extra guidelines.

Complete Your Pre-License Courses in Macon

You have to complete 75 hours of pre-licensing education before you apply for your real estate license in Georgia. The Georgia Real Estate Commission mandates these hours. The good news is that you can complete them entirely online through an AceableAgent.com course.

Register for the Real Estate Exam in Macon

After you successfully complete your pre-license course, it is time to sign up to take the real estate exam. PSI manages this test and charges a $119 fee you can pay via credit card, cashier's check, or money order. You can register for the exam online, by calling 888-818-5834, or by mail.

You need to bring two forms of identification with you to the testing center on the day of your exam. One form has to be a government-issued photo ID. Upon passing the exam, you will receive a Certificate of Accuracy Statement, which you must not sign until you apply for your license.

There are two PSI testing centers located in Macon where you can take the real estate exam. They include:

  • 3902 Northside Drive, Suite C5, Macon, GA 31210

  • 6394 Zebulon Road, Suite 102, Macon, GA 31220 (Cell phones are not permitted inside this building)

If you live in Warner Robins or Milledgeville, sorry. There are no testing locations in your area, so you'll need to drive into Macon for the test.

Find a Macon Broker to Sponsor You

Your sponsor is a broker who is willing to spend the time to mentor you and teach you how to succeed in the Macon real estate market. While they do employ you, they are also your partner in your real estate journey. You can apply for your license directly after taking your exam if you already found a broker willing to sponsor you.

Apply for Your Georgia Real Estate License

If you are able to apply for your real estate license right after you pass your test, make sure you bring the following documents with you:

  • A valid form of photo ID like a driver's license or passport

  • A valid background check

  • A signed and notarized Lawful Presence Affidavit

  • Your unsigned Certification of Accuracy Statement

  • Your Sponsoring Broker Statement Form

  • The license fee of $170, payable by credit card, cashier's check, or money order
