How long have you been in the industry and how did you first get started in real estate?

I began work for a brokerage here in San Antonio just over a year ago after working in the legal field, for what seems like my entire life! I worked under some agents out of the Austin and San Antonio area while I completed my coursework. It was one year ago on Halloween that I became licensed.

What's the most interesting or most important thing you've learned in a real estate continuing education course?

Contract and legal courses are the most beneficial as there are so many small details in our contracts and addendums. They hold my interest too as I come from the legal field!

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment during your time in real estate?

My greatest accomplishment so far would have to be helping my first-time home-buyers go from zero/bad credit to homeownership. By partnering with the top lenders in the SA area and staying alongside them through that journey, encouraging them, we are able to see their home buying dreams come to fruition. Seeing them feel accomplished tells me I’ve done my job.

What is the trait you most admire in other real estate agents or brokers?

Mentorship. I’ve been blessed to be surrounded by other agents who have a heart for leading. I owe this last year to those agents who stood by my side to help me grow and learn the ropes of this fast-paced industry. To say I admire them is an understatement!

What books, websites or courses do you recommend to those in the real estate industry and why?

Prospecting Power by Russ McNeil was one of the first I read, teaching me that the hard must become habit; the habit must become easy; the easy must become beautiful. When the hard becomes second nature, I feel I am surpassing goals in regards to my personal growth. Crushing It by Gary Vaynerchuk and You are a Badass by Jen Sincero are obvious recommendations!

What advice do you have for new agents who are just starting out in the business?

Interview brokerages – they all offer something different. Find what works for you. Surround yourself with the good ones and STAY STRONG! It can seem slow and challenging at first – but “trust the process” Ha! When you hear “just build your pipeline” and “followup is key” – trust it and stay strong!
